PhD in Cell imaging

A Ph D position is available at the Division of Cell Physics, Department of Applied Physics, School of Engineering Sciences.

KTH is the largest technical university in Sweden. Education and research cover a broad spectrum within natural sciences and engineering, as well as architecture, industrial engineering and management, urban planning, work science and environmental engineering. There are circa 12,000 full-year undergraduate students, 1,400 postgraduate students and 3,100 employees.


The School of Engineering Sciences carries out research at the international front line in a wide area, from research within fundamental disciplines such as physics and mathematics, to engineering mechanics with applications like aeronautics and vehicle engineering. We offer the engineering programs Engineering Physics and Vehicle Engineering, as well as programs for Engineer and Education, Open Entrance and a number of master programs.
The candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary research team and work within the fields of fluorescence imaging, image analysis and intercellular communication, especially in relation to innate and cell mediated immunity. This project focuses on developing imaging analysis tools for novel assays for investigating the mechanisms for how Natural Killer cells detect and eliminate virus infected, non-self or tumour cells through formation of an immune synapse.
QualificationsApplicants should hold a degree in Physics, Biophysics, Biotechnology or related fields. Experience of fluorescence imaging and image analysis is desired. As the applicant will work closely with immunologists at the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden good communication skills as well as great interest in biological applications are necessary.
