[招聘信息] Doctoral and postdoctoral positions@ULB

Doctoral and postdoctoral positions@ULB

The Université Libre de Bruxelles invites applications from both women and men for two doctoral and one postdoctoral positions.

The positions will be funded by the Action de recherche concertée grant (ARC) on "The Effect of Infinity on Matrix-Analytic Models", awarded to Professor Guy Latouche(1), Professor Peter Taylor(2) (University of Melbourne) and Professor Marie-Ange Remiche(3) for the years 2008 to 2012. They will commence in July 2009. The doctoral positions will be offered for three years and six months, with a possible extension to four years, and the postdoctoral position will be available for two years.

The candidates will be expected to have a background in mathematics, statistics, computer science or telecommunications engineering, with an interest and knowledge of applied probability appropriate to the level at which they will be appointed. The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to have the ability to work both independently and also as a member of the team. The doctoral fellows, while initially working in a team environment, must have the potential to develop into independent researchers.

The salary is in the range 1540-1650 Euros (net) for a doctoral position, 2000-2100 Euros (net) for the postdoctoral position, depending on the candidate's background. The salary is tied to the Belgian Cost-of-Living Index.

A description of the project and the selection criteria for the positions can be viewed at www.ulb.ac.be/di/map/ARC_criteria.pdf

Further information can be obtained by contacting Professor Guy La- touche at latouche@ulb.ac.be.

Applications addressing the selection criteria and including the names and addresses of three referees should be emailed to Professor Guy Latouche at the address above; the deadline is February 28, 2009.

Upon offer of a position, the candidates who are not EU citizens are required to obtain an appropriate long-term Schengen visa; further information is available from Belgian embassies.
